  • Description of GhostRider:
Looming 118 feet over Knott's historic Ghost Town, the GhostRider wooden coaster forever changed the look and feel of this venerable California theme park. Brave GhostRiders enter a mysterious mine, only to be strapped into a gold, silver and copper mining car and sent along 4,533 feet of twisting, unforgiving timber. Highlights of this massive themed white- knuckler, include a dramatic 108-foot initial banked drop, 13 additional drops, sudden dips, banked turns and maximum G-force of 3.14. GhostRider begins at the former site of Knott's Berry Farm's Pan for Gold (permanently relocated to Boot Hill) and stretches onto former backstage property before veering left over Grand Avenue and into the former MarketPlace parking lot and comes within several hundred feet of bustling Beach Blvd. There, it doubles- back on itself in classic "out-and-back" fashion to return to the giant themed GhostRider Mining Co. queue building.
    The Experience on GhostRider:
You will approach the ride near the entrance to Ghost Town. The queue begins by going through a mysterious mining tunnel and then going into the mine-themed queue house. You will wait on both stories of the queue and then enter one of the silver, copper, or gold colored "mine trains." The legend of the Ghostrider tells us that one day, a miner in the West once entered an abandoned mine, never to be seen again. He roams the lands to this day, and he is known as the GhostRider. There is a small initial descent into a ravine, where you will sweep to the right and ascend the lift hill. The first 108 foot drop ensues and is followed by a good supply of airtime. The ride follows a double out and back pattern . Most of the attraction resides on the parking lot near the marketplace.
    Accidents on GhostRider:
On August 23, 1999, a piece of wood flew off the track and hit 5 people on the ride. The injuries that were reported were minor. All other injuries that were reported has not been confirmed at this time.
